A great hot dip:
1 pound cooked sausage, drained
2 packages cream cheese
1 can Rotel tomatoes, drained
Cook together until cream cheese is melted and thoroughly mixed. Serve with salsa and tortilla chips.
Sounds funky, but it SO good :)

I like to serve a variety when throwing a gathering. Stuffed mushrooms, little quiches, shrimp is always safe, cheeses of different varieties, scallops wrapped in bacon are delicious, depends on the gathering really and how formal it is as to what I serve. If it is casual fondu is always a hit.

I usually make a bunch of different appetizers, but my personal favorite is coconut shrimp. . . .Buy some jumbo shrimp, dip them in flour, then a beaten egg, then a mixture of bread crumbs and coconut (obviously using more coconut, but the bread crumbs help it stick). Then just toss them in some oil til they are browned. I usually serve them with a dipping sauce of orange marmalade spiked with a little rum. So yummy!

It depends on how fancy this party is.
sports party (like watching the superbowl) - chicken wings w/different sauces (BBQ, Mesquite, Extra Spicy), nachos, potato skins, pigs in a blanket
casual get together - chocolate fountain w/dippers like cake pieces and cut fruit, deviled eggs, mozzarella sticks w/marinara dipping sauce, mini tacos, mini spring rolls, fried tortillas strips dipped in cinnamon and sugar
fancier party - sweet onion tartlets, petit fours

You can never go wrong with a nice platter of veggies with a french onion dip or hummus. The colours are nice and it's a nice starter thats easy to digest. Crackers and a nice cheese ball goes well with the veggies too.

Baked brie. You can look top the brie with cranberries or sauteed mushrooms and carmelized onions before you wrap it up in the pastry dough. YUM! Just don't look at the nutritional facts...there's a lot of fat in the pastry dough...sorry to ruin the fun...

I like to bring the following
1 package cream cheese
1 jar cocktail sauce
1 lb bay shrimp, cooked
1 box Ritz crackers
Take cream cheese and put on plate, pour cocktail sauce over cream cheese and put shrimp on top. Serve with ritz crackers.
People gobble it up every time and it is sooooooo simple!

Beer cheese and pretzel sticks! I also usually serve cocktail meatballs, boiled shrimp, stuffed mushroom caps, and for something sweet, dried dates stuffed with an almond and rolled in powdered sugar.
