This may mean a lot thing.. so before everyone else here give you an indefinite and non-medical based answer..get your father a more specific procedure to know exactly what it is like a biopsy or PET scan. Tumors or any growth in the body that is not normally there MUST be observed especially in vital areas like lungs..beacuse these will be fatal once diagnosed as cancer (but hope it is not) so..don't waste time..confirm what it is ASAP. They told my father the same thing, it is a shadow on his lung. How old is your dad and does he smoke, if so it is caused from smoking, but they will be able to cut it away if it is caught in time.

It could be only scar tissue...the doc told my husband that also and he had a bad lung congestion at one time but further testing showed it was scar tissue.....

It means they've spotted something in there that shouldn't be there. Could be a thickening of the lung lining - check this with a doctor.

could be a few things but relative had this and it was emphysema.
