*Most* vegetarians are fine with them.
It's vegans that eschew eggs, for the most part.
Some dislike the conditions that the hens live in in order to 'farm' the eggs.
Others don't like that they have the potential to become life.

It's nothing to do with the egg. It's about the hen that produced the egg. Layer hens are treated very cruelly (look it up). They are slaughtered after a few years. Male chickens are ground up alive because they are 'useless' to the egg industry. So although you are not directly harming anything when you eat an egg, indirectly you are. Same as with dairy.

Vegans will not eat eggs because they're a by-product of an animal.
Most vegetarians I know are lacto-ovo vegetarians, meaning they will eat cheese (made from milk) and eggs (from a hen, whether fertilized or not).

Because by eating eggs you are supporting cruelty to egg-laying hens. Sometimes its not about whether the egg is fertilized or not. Sometimes its about the means by which the egg was produced.

free range eggs are considered vegetarian because the chickens are raised in a humane way and aren't harmed like farm factory chickens.

Some vegetarians refuse to eat not only meat and animals but animal products/"byproducts" such as eggs or milk. These types of people are usually vegetarians because they are adamantly against animal cruelty, and the farms used to exploit and mutilate cows for their milk or chickens for their eggs are not exactly cruelty-free.

The same idea that vegans have about honey. They will not eat honey because they say the bees are enslaved & the honey is produced by SLAVE LABOR....
For vegatarians I have NO idea. Many eat cheese & drink milk depending on how far down the slippery slope they have slid.
Vegans do NOT eat animal products of any kind or apparently food that has been produced from SLAVE LABOR!!! HA HA HA!!!!
Why is it that they don't care that plants are FORCED in a green house & they are kept in cramped little pots in smelly, dirty conditions. They eat, drink & breath, but I don't see them complaining about the conditions that plants are raised in.
