I've heard that breathing can be used to lower high blood pressure but I don't want to spend a lot of money on a gadget to try it. Does anyone know if you can learn it by yourself and how?

It's true that you don't need an expensive gadget for this. But it's more than just relaxing. You have to breathe in a special way. I've been doing it for a while and it really works. Here's a brief description:

1. Listen to soothing music. It relaxes you and also helps keep your breathing smooth.
2. Adjust your breathing so that exhaling takes twice as long as inhaling.
3. Slow your breathing as far as comfortable.

Practice this for 15 minutes a few times a week. Continue slowing your breathing over time. It's easy and I actually enjoy it.
I've lowered my blood pressure with this method and I feel more relaxed too.
This is only a brief outline. See the source below for complete instructions plus an online audio demo.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.
