3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a silent killer. It has very few symptoms. So if you know that your pressure is high you need to see a good doctor. Reducing your weight, decreasing alchahol consumption and reducing salt in your diet are some of the measures that "MAY" help, but the treatment will involve a medication for sure. The various groups of meds used are beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, diuretics, ARB's etc.

For all the great advise given to you by others, all I can say is, When you house is on fire, you cant fix that by making sure you dont keep matches in the house in the future (or taking vitamins or buying a pet !!)

Hope this helps. see a doctor soon. good luck

Don't smoke cigarettes or use any tobacco product.
Lose weight if you're overweight.
Walk, cycle, lift weights or dance for 30mins a day.
Eat a healthy diet that includes lots of fruits and vegetables and is low in fat.
Limit your sodium, alcohol and caffeine intake.

I know, easier said than done.
But the best way I found is to inhale deeply, then sloooowly exhale. All from the lower abdomen[belly sticks out when inhaling. belly tucks in when exhaling]. Repeat as necessary. Good luck

Eating right and cardo are the first steps that you should take. ALSO.. figure out why you might have high blood pressure. If you're predisposed to it, and it's a genetic thing, then you might have to resort to medication to control it. If you're eating lots of fatty foods and not exercising very much, cut the fat and exercise. You'll see a dramatic improvement in a short period of time. If your blood pressure is due to stress, cut the stress.. you'll do alright.

The key to good blood pressure lies with the cause. Find the cause, and try to fix it first.

Get an animal companion. Having pets has been shown to lower
blood pressure. Just don't get a high-energy dog or a kitten!

Look up the DASH diet....it's a very safe, healthful way to lower your blood pressure. Do the low sodium version.

Lower your salt intake, drink plenty of water, exercise at least 20 min per day, loose weight and get rid of the stressors in your life.
