if anyone has had the surgery done to fix a deviated septem (when your nasal passages are crooked) please tell me how bad it was...i heard from a friend it was the worst surgery he's ever had, and he's had quite a few surgeries...he also said that he can barely smell anything now. i was just wondering if anyone had any comments on it, i would GREATLY appreiate it because im really nervous about getting it.

I had it done about 15 years ago after having broken my nose three times in my lifetime. It was not bad at all and being able to breathe properly afterwards was worth any discomfort. I was back at work in three days. My sense of smell did not change at all. Best of luck.

Yeah I had it done back in the 80's, was not as nice as now. Your friend may have had it doen under the "old" school way. No fun but not as bad as you heard. A few days of packing up the nose and for me it was uphill after that.
The downside was I could never breath though my nose before and after I had more allergy problems cause stuff was able to get up into my sinuses.

I had that surgery and I also had laser sinus surgery. The deviated septum repair will not be that bad. You might feel like crap for a few days but its not as much to heal from as the sinus surgery. Don't be scared...its an easy surgery to recover from.

Wow, talk about timing. I just had it done 3 weeks ago...and believe me its AMAZING now. No more blockages or runny noses(mostly). The first week was hard tho after the surgery because my nose wouldn't stop bleeding....but dw thatsnormal. I would go ahead with it! Good Luck!!
