A Heart Attack may cause some or all of these symptoms

Pain, pressure, fullness, discomfort or squeezing in the center of the chest
Stabbing chest pain
Radiating pain to shoulder(s), neck, back, arm(s) or jaw
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Pounding heartbeats (palpitations) or feeling extra heartbeats
Upper abdominal pain
Nausea, vomiting or severe indigestion
Sweating for no apparent reason
Dizziness with weakness
Sudden extreme fatigue
Panic with feeling of impending doom

Note milder symptoms. About a third of women experience no chest pain at all when having a heart attack. Many report flu-like symptoms

At first I felt a very slight "not quite right " sensation which was difficult to interpret, I sat down and rested hoping the feeling of tiredness would pass. I remember thinking immediately. I may be having a heart attack, THAT"S WHEN I SHOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING ABOUT IT !. Instead I continued to feel this tiredness, it didn't subside like having a rest usually works,
The sensations given by previous answers are all correct, it seems we all have widely differing stories but the most common ones are a tingling sensation under the chin and going down either of the inside of your arms. as I previously said IF YOU HAVE ANY FEAR YOU ARE HAVING A HEART ATTACK,...............SEEK IMMEDIATE ATTENTION !
Taking something as simple as an Aspirin can do a load of good while you are on the way to hospital and oxygen will also help.
Are you clear now about immediate help ? if I had gotten to hospital sooner I possibly would not have lost two years off work and totally changed my life, there are procedures now, where it is possible to remove the blockage in your artery before it can do any real harm but the key is DO SOMETHING IMMEDIATELY, if you are mistaken you will be happily walking home slightly embarrassed, if not you will thank me forever, I truly hope you never need this advice but please pass it on to as many people as you can ?
By the way my new transplant works like a good one and I have even taken employment contracts overseas since my surgery.
There is life after a heart attack if you are lucky,

A sudden shortness of breath, pain deep within your chest for some and pain in the arm can be another symptom. Others can have a heart attack with no pain at all. The heart go into fibrillation which just means it looses it's rhythm of beating. This can cause death unless it can get back to the beating that pumps the blood throughout the body. When in fibrillation, the heart just quivers with no rhythm at all. An aneurysm of a main artery bursting is usually certain death for most.

I'm a nurse. Your chest tightens, shooting pain down the left arm(but could shoot down the right), sweating, gas(indigestion), numbness, pressure on the chest, shortness of breath. People can have these symptoms or a patient can feel only indigestion. Sometimes people really feel that's all it is and not a heart attack. This is very serious and in most cases fatal. Take Care

The previous poster had it right - many women have either
'uncommon' or no symptoms at all.

I went in to see the doctor because I thought I'd pulled a muscle
in my chest. I'd had some vague 'I-must-have-slept-wrong' pain
in the center of my chest for 3 days, accompanied by the feeling
that there was a rock in my chest that was too big or too heavy
to be there. After they'd run the test, they told me I'd had a 'sub-
endocardial infarction' or 'non-q-wave MI'.

Women don't tend to go to the doc for aches and pains, but...
you usually know when something just isn't RIGHT.

It's like a little taste of dying. There's a weird feeling of sweating but you're chilling. Intense pain all over your muscles but numbness on the skin. Claminess, nausea and chestpains, intense backpain and panic.

Heartburn. If you have never had heartburn, it's like a burning, crushing pain in your chest. Sometimes the pain can radiate into you arms. Sometimes you can get dizzy, shortness of breath or nausea.

My father had it a few months ago.
You feel tired, dizzy. You get pale and eventually, faint. Your chest starts to hurt also.
