I know a guy who keeps coughing like clearing his chest sound. He's on a beata blocker and cumitin too.

Heart failure leads to congestion in the lungs. Blood flows from veins into heart, through the right chambers into the lungs for oxygen. The left lower chamber pumps it through the aorta out to arteries of the body. If the heart is weak, there is a backflow or regurgitation of blood from chambers that don't totally empy into the lungs. The pressure from the excess blood flow leads to fluid accumulation. One symptom of this is a nonproductive cough. Other symptoms are swelling of legs/feet, belly - even low back or face, abdominal tightness, feeling of constipation, 1-2 pound weight gain in one day or 3-5 pounds in one week, increased shortness of breath. Any of these signs should be reported to the heart doctor.

His heart isn't working properly. If he doesn't see a doctor soon, he could die. having an unusual cough is one of the symptoms of heart attack! if it is happening now, get off the computer, make him sit down with his feet up and call 911 Tell them you think he is having a heart attack

Probably mucus pressure, he may need to eat more fruits, bananas are a natural cough syrup
