In Cantonese,
"chow" means fry
"lo" means mix / toss with
therefore, we refer "chowmein" as fried noodles, the mein (noodles) could be rice noodle, egg noodle, wheat noodle, ramen, thick or thin, crispy or soft, etc. "Lo mein" could be cold noodle and we sometimes put the sauce (minced pork or other ingredients) on the noodle and toss to combine.

mein is just the chinese word for noodles, so it can be any kind of noodle, though noodle soup and thin noodles and everything has a different name. mein is just the base word. an chow mein is just a type of dish with mein/noodles.

ooo ooo i kno this 1 i used to work at a chineese takeout place i think its chow mein thats the bigger noodle and lo mein thats the smaller noodle or it could b da ohter way around but i think das it
