I think I might have herpes, but I am waiting on the test results.

By boyfriend is very paranoid and has trust issues - although I do nothing to encourage this.

How could I have them? I have not cheated. Don't think he has, but you do never know.

Been with him for 1 year and having unprotected, before that 3 sexual partners but used condoms, before that unprotected sex with my ex who I was with for 7 years.

Herpes needs a moist HOST to spread by direct contact....towels shared can pass the virus, tho toilet seats and doorknobs are out (nassy, but out!)

Herpes can be asymptomatic for a long time, so it could have been a previous "contact". If you do have it, take L-lysine and echinacea to reduce further outbreaks and do not have sex during an outbreak, of course. There are prescription choices as well - choose carefully. Many have side effects. There are also certain triggers, once you have an outbreak....they are different for everyone. Research!! and good luck :)

You could contract the virus from one contact with an infected individual and the virus could remain dormant for years and never result in an outbreak.
If there is indeed an outbreak, the incubation period is 15 days after initial contact and the first outbreak is the worst with the subsequent flare-ups being reduced in intensity.
Some people have an initial outbreak then never see blisters again.
If you are positive for herpes, there will be counselling available and recommendations of preventative drugs. There is currently no cure for the herpes virus but there are drugs that can help lessen the severity of outbreaks.

You could have acquired herpes from a public restroom. Toilet seats are a feeding ground for some types of the Herpes Simplex virus..
Or as others have said, either one of you may have had the virus and never knew it.

Very good advice from the others, but let me add one small detail.

A condom does not guarantee protection from STDs, especially herpes.

he could have them and not even know it and gave it to you or you could have had it for awhile and are just now getting your first break out. just because someone is not having an outbreak doesnt mean they do not carry the disease. and if someone has a cold sore on their mouth and then they go down on you they can give you genital herpes. there are plenty of ways you could have contracted the disease
