When you exercise, you make additional demands on the heart, which causes it to pump more blood, resulting in an elevated heart rate. Jogging, for instance, is called aerobic exercise since it demands more oxygen. Excitement or fear release of chemicals into the blood--adrenaline in the presence of danger--which cause the heart rate to rise. The second, while a necessary response--the adrenaline may dictate an instinctictive response in the sudden presence of a lion, leading to instant flight--does not necessarily strengthen the heart muscle. Repeated episodes of stress may in fact be bad for the cardio-vascular system. Exercise on the other hand strengthens the heart.

a little bit of stress can be good, but more than a little is unhealthy.. exercising is always good for you unless you're doing more than your body can handle..
caffeene can make your heart beat faster too, but it doesn't mean it's good for you..
