Try walking a couple of miles each day, 5 days a week. You will need to do something in the future anyway to keep your metabolism up so you don't put on any extra weight, so you might as well get started now.

Pray, pray, pray. This is something that helped me very much when I quit smoking (october 2005).

Drink lots of water. This may not make you sleepy, but it may enhance onanism. You need something constructive--or at least relaxing--to do when you can't sleep. Reading online erotic fictions are also something that can occupy your time and perhaps distract you when the cravings hit you.

I tried the gum before I quit, but that only ended with me smoking and chewing the niccotine gum simultaneously, so I can't say much for it.

Removing sugar and sugar substitutes fromyour diet can help to lessen nicottine cravings, and lessen hyperactivity.

Hope this helps.

Hang in there! Your body is making a serious adjustment and it will take a little time. Do not give in!!!
Try a hot bath before bed or a pleasant glass of your favorite wine. If those don't work you can try some over-the-counter melatonin. In any case you will adjust within a few days and your body will relax enough to sleep. Whatever it takes it is worth it to quit! I started when I was 12 and finally quit cold-turkey at 20. I used sunflower seeds. Best thing I've ever done!

first of all..congrats for doing this..you are indeed almost past the first tough part...your body is getting rid of all those poisons that the ciggies put in...give it some time to do so..be patient..I remember this stage taking about a week..you are almost there...then things will start settling down...air will smell sweeter..food will taste better..your blood pressure will return to normal..the oxygen level in your bloodstream will increase...you will have more energy...the levels of carbon monoxide and arsenic in your blood will decrease dramatically...for that reason alone this quitting thing is worth it...get some regular cardio exercise each day...a walk or a swim? the earlier the better..and try some...warm milk!!! at bedtime..also a warm bath with lavendar might help as well...I quit at 26 for the same reason and it was the hardest thing I've ever done..and I am so glad I toughed it out....you CAN do this!!!

Yes, it's normal. You could try taking a Tylenol PM before bed. You are waking up because the cravings are waking you...even if you don't actually crave it at that time. You'll get past it in a week or so. Congrats, and good luck!

Congrats. ^^
Honestly, when I quit smoking it took me around 2 weeks to get the cravings to a manageable level, in order for me to get a good nights rest, I took a over the counter sleeping aid. Good luck. :)

You'll have relief from the insomnia just about the time that you notice the weight gain.
