Some of the schools I know of have a nurse at the school to do the testing. If it comes back positive, the student is notified, then goes to a clinic or private doctor for an exam and medication.

Just go to your regualr doctor. If you are in high school, then i am assuming that your mother doesnt come into the room with you. Just ask your doctor, if you are on your parents insurance, it should cover it. If not, google health clinics in your area and they will do it for a low cost.
Either way, dont be nervous...this is these peoples jobs.
Also, if you are not sexually active, you dont necessarly need to get tested.

Typically, if you go to the health department there will be a long wait and you may end up being there all day. You should probably call a general physician and make an appointment. If you have a family physician, he/she should be able to take care of it for you. But-- if you are not sexually active, there's no need to go. If you are sexually active, please be very careful-- AIDS and HIV are real diseases and do kill people everyday. Other STDs are not curable and can result in death or transmission to babies when they are born. Please be careful...
