If you're put on different antibiotics, i.e. doxycyline, cipro, flagyl... does mixing take away the effectiveness of each one? Please advise..

If all those meds were precribed by the same doctor, probably not. But if they are coming from different physicians, each doctor should be made aware of the other meds. For a quickie answer, try the pharmacist down at your local drugstore. He should know or be able to look up possible interaction risks for you.

nope...different antibiotics work on different strains of bacteria...so sometimes if there is more than one isolate (bacterial strain) and they are not all suseptible to the same antibiotic, more than one type will be prescribed. however-you should only take more than one at a time if they were prescribed by the same dr. some combinations of antibiotics are extremely harsh on your liver and kidneys.
