Try these sources:

BEST

black strap molasses
40% bran flakes

GOOD

baked goods with carob or soy flour
wheat germ
mustard greens
asparagus
navy, kidney and soy beans
tofu
split peas or lentils
dried apricots and raisins
strawberries
tomato juice

FAIR

enriched rice, pasta and bread
bananas and avocados
cranberry juice
apples and oranges
broccoli, tomato and carrots
green beans and peas
peanut butter

Hope this helps... I was pale (with normal iron levels) before I became a vegetarian... so who knows... you might just be designed that way!

Ok, here's what you do: eat oatmeal for breakfast, buy some molasses if you don't already have it and eat a tablespoon of it a day or mix it into soymilk. Drink more soymilk every day, and if you are under 18 stop drinking tea as it removes iron from the body. Eat more wholegrains and veggie burgers. I had anemia a couple years ago and got over it by eating lots of iron-rich foods. You can get over it, you just have to work at it.

Yes, you want to eat lots of iron rich foods. Lots of green leafy veggies like brocoli and spinach have lots of iron in them as well as oatmeal.

Also, taking vitamins will help. Find a GOOD health food store and get the owners to help you pick out a vitamin to supplement your diet.

Always combine high-iron foods with high Vitamin C foods. Vitamin C enhances iron absorption. Also don't drink tea, coffee or eat blackberries with meals. All of these are high in tannins that block iron absorption.

Talk to a doctor. My sister and my mom have anemia and they have to take iron pills.
