I can help you with this but I will need to start a dialogue with you off Yahoo. Please e-mail me at nurselmh@sbcglobal.net. I need to know the following up front: Do they know how operate her glucometer and take fingersticks?

I agree Yahoo Answers is not the place. This needs to be addressed to a Physician who is familiar with ketoic hypoglycemia. He may have a hand out for you, or have the nursery staff come in for a training day. They can also be shown how to use a glucometer.
The latter case would be the best.
Basic ideas are: Make sure she receives regular carbohyrate containing snacks. She may need to eat at least once every 2-3 hours. Your doctor can advise you more.
Her blood glucose (if the doctor does not already have her on a regular schedule for testing) should be checked if she appears symptomatic for hypoglycemia.
The staff should be trained to look out for symptoms of hypoglycemia, such as:
-irritability, drowsiness, trouble concentrating, sweating, trembling, shaking, paleness, and in some kids, hyperactivity.
When in doubt, they should test her.
They should know that they need to give her fast acting sugar RIGHT AWAY. Glucose gel, REGULAR Coke, or dextrose tabs.
Symptoms of Ketoacidocis are: Rapid breathing, drowsiness, decreased alertness, and an acetone (nail polish like) smell on the breath. Ketones can be checked with urine strips called Ketostix. The daycare staff can be shown how to do this.
In kids with this disorder, both sets of symptoms can present at the same time.
If the child is not responding to oral treatment (food, glucose gel, etc.), appears disprientated, and/or has large ketones in the urine, they should be advised to call 911 and take the child to the hospital for IV treatment.
It is very easy to learn about using a home blood glucose monitor. You can even use the illustarted instruction manual that comes with it to give to them, or call the company and ask for an extra to be sent to you. Tape "normal" and "bad" range results to the back of the monitor, so the staff can easily assess and see if she is in normal range. You could put the following: 2.5-3.9 BAD. Give sugar right now. Check ketones after.
2.5 or less: Give glucose gel immediately, if unresponsive to treatment, call 911.
In most cases, she will not need the hospital if she is watched, BUT these are not medical staff and it is better to be safe than sorry.
P.S. Usually chidren will grow out of this disorder (with the odd exception). That is the good news. It won't last forever. Could you afford to get a private nurse to watch her or see if insurance will cover it? Just an idea...

You need to make a flow chart, with the yes no divide.
Is the reading below 4 yes - do this, No all is well.
keep it simple stupid, do not go into too much detail just the basics. also put you contact details on it in case they need to contact you. Get one of the teachers to proof read the chart to see if they understand it.
Good luck

I've had a look at some diabetes websites and didn't find anything helpful.
If I were you I would ask for help from your doctor or one of the nurses at your doctor's surgery.

Type 'diabetes' into your browser and get good help. This is too important to leave to strangers in Yahoo Answers..

Don't be asking us idiots on Yahoo. What do we know? I would suggest though that when you do do your idiots guide - use a flowchart. They are much easier to follow and even the idiots on Yahoo should be able to do it.

sit down with your pediatrician and ask if they have something prepared for you to give to her caregivers. if not, if they will help you prepare something in plain English to give to the caregivers.
