I've got a throat infection, and I coughed up some yellow mucus. I've read that the yellow discharge consists of cells that your body produced to fight the infection, so is it good to keep my clearing my throat?

It's good that you are able to get this stuff out of your throat. If you haven't seen a doctor yet, and it doesn't get better soon, you may want to schedule an appointment. They can have you cough in a cough (called a sputum sample) and get you on some antibiotics to clear it right up. But keep coughing it up, that's the bad stuff coming out, get rid of it!

that means you are getting better and getting rid of the infection. If its thick and green then you have a nasty infection it goes yellow and then paler and eventually clear once the infection is gone. Happy coughing!

I think that you might have some infection going on. So make sure that you do clear that out of your throat.

You need to bring as much as that mucus up. Lemon, Ginger, Honey all work on breaking the mucus up. I gargle with salt water or peroxide to bring it up. I also sometimes vomit to help move it around.
