That's kind of an open ended question. Depends on what kind of recipes you need, finger foods, full blown out meal, etc. I have 3 parties, ranging from finger foods to sit down with place settings. For one I am making ham rolls (deli ham, spread with cream cheese, place dill pickle or green onion, roll, place tooth picks and cut) another I am making Cheesy Brocoli and Rice and another I am taking little smokies in bbq sauce. There are a lot of recipes on Cooks.com that are wonderful and have a Christmas Party tab you can click on. Food Network has one as well. Happy Holidays!

I make an awesome cheese dip that is great to put out with chips as an appetizer... take sausage (the kind you can brown like ground beef) any strength you want. Brown it in the skillet just like ground beef, drain the fat off, and place in a crock pot or saucepan (slowcooker/crockpot works best but not required). Cube Velveeta Cheese I reccomend the large 32 oz package for a group of about 6-7 guests. Place cubed cheese in the same pan as the sausage heat on low until cheese starts to melt. Can add milk to make the dip a little easier to spoon out. Once cheese is melted stir well, and serve warm with chips.

Since you want to be able to stay with your party, I find it best to keep it simple. Since I live in Florida, one thing that works great is sates. I can pop them on the grill and let them cook while enjoying the party. I put beef, chicken and shrimp on skewers and cook them for a couple of minutes per side. Of course if it is cold where you are, they work just as well on a George Foreman grill and actually cook a little faster). While you are at it, some fruit skewers go great as an interesting desert item with a simple yogurt sauce (buy it). Just cut the fruit into interesting shapes, skewer and plate.

Put a couple of easy dipping sauces (available from foodtv.com) and you jut replenish and cook as needed.

These have always been hits at parties I've attended:

fruit kabobs (don't forget the 'Fruit Fresh' so they don't turn)
chocolate dipped ruffled potato chips (one end white, one choc)
bean pie (see recipe below)
cocktail weenies in 1 jar BBQ sauce plus small jar grape jelly
meatballs in 1 can mushroom soup + pkg dried onion soup
tortilla roll ups (see recipe below)
cheese ball with chips (see recipe below)
cheese and chili nachos (keep cheese warm in a crock pot)
cookies, brownies or other 'sweets'

BEAN PIE

1 can refried beans
1 lb sausage, cooked, drained and blotted
1 1/2 cups grated yellow cheese
nacho pepper slices
chips

Spread refried beans in pie plate. Top with sausage and cheese and sprinkle with pepper slices. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes. Serve with fritoes or tortilla chips.

TORTILLA ROLL UPS

1 package flour tortillas
1 can chopped green chilies
1 can chopped black olives
1 pkg softened cream cheese

Stir chilies and olives into softened cream cheese. Spread each tortilla liberally with this mixture. Roll up jelly roll style and slice into individual bites. Chill until ready to serve.

CHEESE BALL

1 jar dried beef
1 bunch green onions, sliced (including 1/3 of the tops)
1 can green chilis
1 pkg softened cream cheese

Tear dried beef into small pieces. Combine with onions and green chillis into cream cheese. Roll into a ball. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Serve with assorted crackers.

If it is buffet style, try:

Veggie Tray - with a Dill Dip.

Shrimp Cocktail Tray - with dip

Chips, Crackers, Cheese ball

Meat Tray - to make sandwiches - ham, salami or pepperoni, smoked turkey breast - buns

Also, a small tray that would offer the guests condiments for their sandwich, like lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese slices.

Assortment of cookies and sweets.

Coffee, Tea, Soda Pop.

Quiche and salad is always a good, easy thing to make and it keeps you out of the kitchen and partying with your guests. Another good one is Lasagna or a baked Zitti. For kids at the party-chicken fingers and quesadillas are always winners-so are hotdogs wrapped in crescent rolls.
