The procedure is not done under anesthesia, you will only feel a slight cramping sensation. The doctor will insert a device which delivers the gas that freezes your cervix in order to kill the diseased cells. It only lasts about a minute. A day ir so after that, you will notice a water-like discharge. Sometimes you might find the skin from the cervix that was frozen sheds and is expelled through your vagina. No big deal, I have had it done three times. You'll be just fine!

Ive had the procedure done and it is only uncomfortable for a few min the doctor should give you some sort of pain meds before hand like motrin. Cryotherapy causes little or no discomfort because the extreme cold on the cervix acts like an anesthetic – numbing medication is rarely needed. Most women feel a sensation of cold and a little cramping, and sometimes a sense of warmth spreads to the upper body and face. Some women may experience mild cramping throughout the day following the procedure. Repeat treatments of cryotherapy may be necessary to remove all abnormal tissue.
During the procedure, liquid nitrogen circulates through a metal probe placed on the abnormal tissue. You will hear a soft hissing sound caused by the liquid nitrogen gas circulating in the probe. The liquid nitrogen provides the freezing temperatures needed to destroy the abnormal cells. This freezing will take several minutes. The cervix is then allowed to thaw and then will be refrozen for another several minutes. Hope this helps, good luck!!

Ive had it done twice. My doctor didnt give me any meds but its a good idea to take tylonol or ibuprofin before you go in. Its nothing to be scared about but i understand why you might be afraid. It pretty much just feels like cramping, like when your on your period. However, it is a short procedure and when your done all you feel is maybe some slight cramping throughout the rest of the day. Theyll also give you a pad because they put iodine on your cervix for the procedure and it comes out later as a brownish type liquid. You also may bleed a tiny bit. Its not bad.

It's no big deal and yeah there is cramping but only slight. This is the best thing because I had it done probably 15 years ago and have never had any more problems.
I don't know what that one person was talking about that made it sound so serious, a bladder dropping or whatever. That was crap, don't get wigged over it.

The surgery is really not that bad especially if there is not too many cells involved. Just a little discomfort, but they can give you something to make you feel comfortable during the procedure. It is outpatient so stop worrying, but wear condoms if your partner is not a committed one...ok.

They either give you anesthesia or numb you, so you don't feel a thing.
But you may have drainage afterward, so you have to wear a pad. YUK!!!
It's no big deal, not to worry. It's fast, painless and a very wise thing to have done if you have HPV.
