Jock itch is caused by the same type fungus that gives you athletes foot. It isn't considered a sexually transmitted disease. It looks like red irritated skin, the groin feels hot and itchy, and you don't want anything touching or rubbing the area. You get it through a combination of things- first, you pick up the appropriate fungus on your hands. You transfer it to the groin, usually by going to the bathroom. Then you keep things warm, moist and dark, enclosed in snug fitting underwear and pants. You don't tend to wash and dry well, and end up doing a little crotch pot cooking that breeds the fungus in the skin. The result is the itchy, red, hot groin known as jock itch. The fungus usually is found in locker rooms, where it lives quite nicely in the moist warm atmosphere found there. You can also pick up the fungus by sitting your bare bottom on the bare benches there. Folks tend to put their feet on the benches to dry them, and from their feet, to the bench, to your bottom.
To get rid of jock itch, you can use any of the antifungal creams and lotions available at the pharmacy over the counter. Usually they are located with the remedies for athlete's feet, and will say they are effective against jock itch. You will need to use them for about a week. While you are treating yourself, you need to also wash all your underwear in the hottest water it can take, with a bleach or other disinfectant. If you are in the habit of going commando, then your pants will need the same treatment. While you are treating yourself, air and sunlight are good friends. Fungus likes things warm, wet and dark- so you want to provide a nice dry airy atmosphere to discourage it. Wear boxers if you have to get dressed, or when you can't waltz around au natural.
While it's not sexually transmitted, you can concievably give your girl friend a vaginal infection if you have jock itch, so it would be kindest not to have sex at this point. She wouldn't be very pleased with you.
To prevent it occuring in future, take care of where you park your bare behind, wash and dry yourself carefully, including your hands. Try to avoid really tight pants, and don't sleep in your jockey shorts. You should wear either pj pants or boxers to sleep in, so you get a good airing a few hours a day. They also make body powders, some medicated, that you can use to keep things nice and dry between showers. At the gym, make sure you wear shower shoes at all times, never let any bare part of you touch any surface without a towel between you and it. If you regularly use locker rooms, be sure you use an antibacterial soap to shower there and don't toss your towel or clothing on the floor or benches if you can avoid it at all.
Roommates sharing clothing can give it to each other, as well as through shared towels. Good bathroom hygiene and cleanliness are essential to preventing the fungus from taking hold there. Keep the bathroom area clean and don't share personal items at all. If you do share clothing, only wear it after it is washed. Basically, be clean and be selfish when it comes to sharing things. You can share more than you intended to. Remember what your mom told you about touching things in public bathrooms, because she was right- you don't know who used it last.

It may look like a bit of a rash and even be red. It itches like crazy and yes it can be passed by sexual contact.

Wash the affected area and use Chruex which is available OTC for jock itch. If that doesn't clear it up in a day or two see a doctor and find a new boy friend. One who bathes.

It appears to be red, raised, scaly patches that may blister and ooze. The patches often have sharply-defined edges. They are often redder around the outside with normal skin tone in the center. This may create the appearance of a ring.

Jock itch may be contagious. It can be passed from one person to the next by direct skin-to-skin contact or contact with unwashed clothing. Jock itch usually stays around the creases in the upper thigh and does not involve the scrotum or penis. It is often less severe than other tinea infections, but may last a long time. Jock itch may spread to the anus, causing anal itching and discomfort.
Keep your skin clean and dry. Don't wear clothing that rubs and irritates the area. Apply topical over-the-counter antifungal or drying powders, such as those that contain miconazole, clotrimazole, or tolnaftate.

I got identified with genital herpes (type 2) about four years back, whilst I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I understand loads of young women say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and all of a sudden I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with a girl that has sores round her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/FyYWt everything got better.

Not only was I able to eradicate all traces of the hsv from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so fortunate to write that just a week ago, in front of everyone in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!!! This program gave me back the chance to be happy and experience real love again. Now I hope that I can help others too by sharing this story.
