Losartan potassium is the generic name of Cozaar so what you have is indeed Cozaar. Losartan belongs to a family of drugs referred to as angiotensin receptor blockers. These are most commonly employed for hypertension but they are used in heart failure as well. They have no advantage over the less expensive angiotensin 1 converting enzyme inhibitors such as lisinopril. Lisinopril costs $4 per month at WalMart which is less than the copay brand names covered by insurance.
