I was diagnosed in October with Breast Cancer, and am interested in a vegetarian diet, mostly to avoid hormones and preservatives. I want to make the change for health reasons, but am completely overwhelmed on where to start. Help?

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis, eating a vegetarian diet is a lot more than just not eating meat, you have to plan your meals a little more than normally but i think you'll find great success if you just experiment a little. There are a number of good websites just google vegetarian diets, or there are a number of good cookbooks: anything by Molly Katzen is good. Also, it's not really a cookbook but Peter Singer's book called The Way We Eat has a lot of information about eating organic foods and vegetarian information. Good Luck.

Good for you for taking your health into your own hands. There are a great many wonderful vegetarian cookbooks out there for you to choose from. I would check out "Vegan With A Vengence", "The Farm Vegetarian Cookbook", "The Greens Cookbook", and "The Enchanted Broccoli Forest". All of these are easy and comprehensive. I wish you the very best of luck in your healing.
