The first time I noticed it was after I was a vegetarian for a bit over a year. This restaurant that I went to I had no idea he put chicken in the soup, it was very fine and you cannot even tell its in there and all the waitresses said it was fine and had no meat in it or stock. When I left my stomach hurt really bad and by the time we were home I was nauseous. My friend who I was with was fine and we had the same thing. It was from the meat in the soup I later found out. I think it is different for all people though and who knows how long it really took me. I didn't have anything with meat in it until that time.

I have been a Vegetarian for 7 years and the smell of cooking meat makes me sick! I have no idea what eating it would do. But I am not about to try, I am fit, healthy and feeling full of energy! I don't want or need any meat.

It could take anywhere from a month to 10 years. It all depends on your surroundings, if you're around the smell of meat obviously it will take a lot longer. If you completely cut out meat and then all of a sudden have a nice big barbecue, just the smell of it could make you throw up. You see, your body produces cells that help digest meat and cells that digest vegetables and so forth. If you're not around meat after a while, your body stops producing these cells and it becomes more difficult for you to be able to eat meat, because your body is not used to this new food. I have been a vegetarian for 5 months now and I'd say that around the 3rd month the thought of meat grossed me out.

I was a vegetarian for 9 years and then ate meat and it didn't make me sick. After a few meals with meat in them, I went back to vegetarianism and it's been over 12 years but I don't want to eat meat again to find out if it makes me sick. Just thinking about it and smelling it reminds me I don't like it.

It is digestible for humans - it's not like your body forgets how. But that doesn't mean it's good for you. I suspect if you try it and it makes you sick there was some sort of grease problem or rancidity or maybe even some sauce that was too rich. You'll get used to it, if you want to, but why bother?

relies upon on how lots you push it. once you're a vegan, you will possibly discover it gruesome, yet i don't think of you will get violently unwell. in case you will end for about 40 days, i don't think of you will see lots. One tip: devour garbanzo beans or chick peas once or twice so as which you do not set up what many vegetarians call the super mac attack. No kidding Take care. good success. ========== further Edit i does not subject too lots bearing directly to the character of what you have given up. not ingesting meat or dairy products or eggs is a reasonably complicated element to do once you're doing it on impulse. that is an fairly massive step. my own opinion is that any attention you provide to healthful nutritional alternatives is a very good element and consciously watching lent by using giving up some thing is likewise good. i'm not Catholic yet I even have been a vegan for 40 years.

I'm a vegetarian and to cut my looooong stort short (I'm sure people are bored by it) because meat and fish eating made me feel sick sick sick!!! When you are 22 and feel 92 you have to make the change!! So I did. I'd be instantly sick if i put any meat (except the live hubby bit before some one else says it - LOL) near my mouth !!!!

I walked past a butcher's in a market on Saturday and I had to get some fresh air. The strong blood and sawdust smell was worse than the fishmonger's stall!!!

after a couple of months i couldn't stand the smell and the thought of it made me sick to my stomach. i'm sure at that point i couldn't have eaten it anymore, just based on the smell and gross factors alone.

however, how long would it take for my BODY to reject it? i really don't know, because i've been a vegetarian/vegan for 10 years and have never tried to eat meat.

i was on a trip to turkey when i was in college and couldn't understand a word the line cooks were saying, so i got some soup that turned out to be chicken based. i couldn't taste that because of all the other stuff blended in. that made me throw up, and i had been a vegetarian for about 2 years. so i know that at least by that point, my body wasn't about to go for the meat idea!

I was a vegetarian for more than 20 years and this never happened. When I started eating meating again it was easy...no problems. Humans have specific enzymes for digesting meat and we do not lose them. There is some evidence that we can lose the ability to digest lactose from dairy products but this does not happen with meat.
I tink that it is probably a psychological effect when people get sick from eating meat.

My best friend has been a vegetarian for 20 years, and he says the smell of bacon still makes his mouth water....it's his one temptation. And other meats don't make him sick to smell them either... he only feels sick if he thinks about how the poor critter ended up on his plate.
