This is a difficult answer to give since most peoples tastes are different. I suggest you go to recipezaar.com for your answer. It is free to join, and the recipes are fantastic. There are ones from all different parts of the world as well. You can search recipes based on the holiday, the part of the meal such as appetizer, side dish, etc, and also you can search by ingredient. If you had something in mind already, but wanted to make it really special you could use that. The recipes are endless and also many have been rated by users that give you some feedback as to whether it was good, came out as described, and also if they made any changes or would suggest any changes to the recipe. It is a great site, and I hope you will check it out and share it with your friends. I have been using it for a number of years, and it has never let me down yet. Good luck with your recipe, and Happy Holidays!! Deb

Well if you wanted to take something hot this is an old family recipe and I guarntee u want no one else have this it is called a chesse pie
All you need is salt crackers or we call them soda crackers. And 1 block of chesse or a 1 lb of sherred.
Take the crackers and crush them up and line the bottom of a casserole dish with them. And then add chesse keep reapeting the layers to you get to the top. And add a little more chesse. Now whip up you one egg and a little milk togather. And pour that one top. It is best if you poke hols in the casserole dish threw the crackers and chesse pour the egg and milk mixature in thier. And then after that pour some more milk on the casserole till it comes to the top of the chesse bake in the oven for about 45 minutues until the crust and the chesse is nice and golden brown serves around 15 people depending on how much people eat it is really good. And an easy dish.

Have you thought about something that ISN'T too rich - and might perhaps be something light and refreshing.

Very few people will take anything like this - but MANY folks would like a slightly lighter dish after perhaps eating heavy food for the last few days at other parties / meals etc.

A really nice "lemon icebox" - sort of a zingy cross between a sorbet and ice cream - for those that find ANOTHER Christmas pudding just a little to much to bear!

I enjoy taking a good dessert to a Christmas dinner. Oreo dessert or pretzel salad dessert ALWAYS go over well. There are never any leftovers and I'm lucky if I get a piece for myself.

It just depend but most parties already have the main dishes. I would do a fruit salad with mixed fruit, cool whip, and pecans. You can alter it any way you want and can't go wrong. Most people eat fruit and no one will make fun of your dish (LOL).
