Mono- and Diglycerides are common food additives used to blend together certain ingredients, such as oil and water, which would not otherwise blend well.

The commercial source may be either ANIMAL (cow- or hog-derived) or vegetable, and they may be synthetically made as well. They are often found in bakery products, beverages, ice cream, chewing gum, shortening, whipped toppings, margarine, and confections.

Well, I have no idea what a 'mono' is in books sorry? I particularly just like the layout although, its very very cool:) But it's really horizontal, if its for the duvet or equivalent facet of the publication it more often than not may not have compatibility accurately considering the fact that they most of the time use a vertical design?

They're everywhere, lol. Be careful of your bread, too, they're in most breads and muffins and such. Yes, it can come from plants OR animals, and the only way to really know is to contact the company with a phone call or an e-mail and ask whether it's plant- or animal-derived.

Glycerin also works that way; can come from plants OR animals, and you have to inquire about it to know for sure.
