No, it isn't. You can eat eggs, and that's all, because tofu is too high-carb for Atkins. Try the South Beach Diet instead - they actually have specific suggestions for vegetarian alternatives to the meat-based dishes.

Actually, tofu is the only plant based food that is low in carbohydrates. This is because fat has replaced the carbohydrates. Except soybeans, all beans have carbohydrates instead of fat.

Here's the funny thing. Most people would agree that carbohydrate is better for you than fat. Except the Atkins' fanatics. Don't follow Atkins. Please. Your arteries will thank you for it. I guess South Beach is ok but if you are a vegetarian, that's half the battle won already.

AND DON'T GIVE UP FRUIT. FRUIT IS ESSENTIAL FOR A HEALTHY LIFE

Phase 1 would be pretty difficult as most things high in protein come with plentiful carbs. I think you could probably get away with it in the first phase by eating lots of salads, sauteed squash, spinach. Using healthy oils like olive and safflower.Eating soy and beans in moderation. I think there are boca burgers that are vegan and are South Beach approved. It is possible but probably not going to be easy. If you'd like to lose weight, your best bet is the calorie in/calorie out method. I'd reccommed something like http://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/
Lots of tools to show you a personal plan and chart your progress. Download the *.pdf its a fast read. Its silly, and if your eat healthy you needen't mind the title of the diet...you wount lose hair. *G* Its always better to cut rich calorie laden high fat foods and add in plenty of fruits, veggies, nuts and whole grains.

Morningstar Farms and Bocca the two make super meat selections. i in my view like Bocca Italian Sausage with Dreamfields low carb pasta and a jar of pasta sauce. examine the labels on the pasta sauce. a super type of them incorporate incredibly a lot of sugar - for this reason carbs.
