I was diagnosed with very mild MVP 2 years ago. Recently i've been very dizzy and and even had an episode of complete confusion and disorientation the other day. Could these symptoms be related to the prolapse.?

MVP is not a serious condition. It usually causes minimal symptoms- things like palpitations, or mild chest pains. Confusion and disorientation are NOT typical symptoms. There is no known association with MVP and having strokes or mini-stokes (TIAs).

You need to get further evaluation for the cause of your mental status changes. It's not due to the MVP.

I have mild mitral valve also. At times I do get dizzy with palpitations at times. I think confusion or disorientation could be something else. Was your blood sugar too low? Have you ever had an MRI of your brain done to make sure it's OK? I would make an appt. with your doctor and explain your symptoms. Better to be safe than sorry.

Magnesium supplementation given for five weeks reduced the symptoms of chest pain, palpitation, anxiety, low energy, faintness, and difficulty in breathing (in patients with MVP) by about 50 per cent.

Try taking calcium-magnesium-zinc pills 3x daily with meals for a couple of months.
If your problem persists or gets worse see a doctor asap.
