I eat only egg and yoghurt, and am underweight. To me it is ethically unacceptable to take a life for my survival, and so am unable to eat meat. Should I force myself to eat meat, waste away to death, or is there any other way out? Would be grateful for any advice.

I guess I don't understand something here. Whay can't you eat good carbs like whole grains, fruits, and vegetables? Yogurt and eggs are animal products. Why don't you eat fruits and vegetables?

Actually, vegetarian diabetics (vegans specifically) tend to be healthier as a whole than omnivore diabetics.

I don't understand why you can't have carbs. If you are underweight, I am going to assume you are a Type 1 diabetic and take insulin.

Type 1 diabetics (unless gaining/over weight) DO NOT need to restrict carbs. Match the amount of carbs you eat with your insulin dose. Simple as that. Meet with a RD or Diabetes Nurse Educator to show you how.

Also, most veggies are fairly low carb. Beans, oatmeal, and legumes are great for stabilizing BG's (low GI) and adding fibre.

You need to see a Registered Dietitian who is a Certified Diabetes Educator ASAP.

Wouldn't you get your carbs from the fruit and veges that a vegetarian lives on? Either I am completely misunderstanding what you wrote, or you need to do a lot of research on nutrition.
There are plenty of vegetarian sources of protein, if that's what you're worried about, like soy products and legumes.
I think you just need to do some research. Fast.

As a physician I have a great deal of trouble with a diabetic vegetarian. A proper diet is impossible. Iron and essental amino acids are not present in vegetables. That sort of diet is very foolish regardless of predjudice against killing meat animals.

Egg is meat... it comes as the babies of chickens... So eat meat (You already do) and eat nuts and salad and fruits and vegetables. Carbs are at the bottom of the food pyramid.

So long as u take good quality high fibre carbohydrates it is ok. In so far as life is concerned u r taking eggs which can produce life. They r also non-veg food. I am not advocating that u eat meat. Please consult a veg. Doc/Dietician. Westerners cannot help u much.
