What is the difference from breathing through your nose or mouth? What health effects can it have etc. etc. I have some serious nasal allergies. Any non-medicinal ways to clear my nose?

actually adults can not breathe only through their noses. As a child you can breath with only your nose but we develop a habit as we get older where we can not breath only with our nose.
A way to clear your nose which I use as I too have serious allergies... 1. drink a lot of water. It will help to clean out your system flushing the histamines out of your system which are the cause of allergies. 2. flush your sinus's with a saline solution. This can be a weird feeling but you get use to it. what you do is take a saline solution in a squeezable bottle. spray the solution up your nose into your sinus's. This is where it feels weird. Your sinus's go up behind your eyes and in your forhead. Let the solution go up there and then let it run out of your nose. It will flush the bad stuff out of there giving you relief. I do this sinus flush once a week and I drink about a gallon of water a day.
If you want to go a medical way you should take a antihistamine/nasal decongestant like pseudoephdrine or triprolidine.

If your sinuses are due in part to a sinus infection, then I would recommend eating food dashed with garlic. Garlic has a proven anti-infection agent in it. Stews with garlic are a good way to beat sinus allergies as the heat from the stew will help open your sinuses up and the garlic fights infection. Also for those with earaches you can boil a head of garlic with water. Let the water cool down to a luke warm touch then using a cotton swab or even an empty visine bottle, can apply 3 drops to the ear canal. Wait 5 minutes with head tilted so that the mixture can get into the ear then if you'd like put a cotton ball in it to keep the mixture from drying out too quickly.

All the bacteria in the air gets "filtered" in your nose. If you breath mostly through your mouth, then there is more bacteria in your mouth.
As for your nose.........I'd suggest a humidifier in every room of your house. Also you can go in the bathroom and run the shower with the hottest water and have the steam help you. I think there even is a surgery you can have done if you want to go that route. Your insurance would probably cover it since your alergies are serious.
