Hot tea with lemon juice and honey, works like a charm. Try not to talk at all until the day of you auditions.

You most likely have an infection or a flair of your asthma (due to the cold, infection or allergy). Because you have asthma, you probably ought to call you doctor. A coarse of steroids may be in ordered.

Otherwise most infections of this nature are viral and must run their course. Lozenges and cough medicine can help, but be careful to read the ingredients to make sure you are not double dosing. You also need to be careful if you are on other medications.

Zicam! Zinc is a healing agent and I take it regularly with reg vits and mins. I've never had to take Zicam, but have heard it works great! I wish they'd had it while I was growing up--as I constrantly had sore throats, colds, pneumonia at times, bronchitis. A pulmonary specialist told me to get a cinder block and put it under the head of my bed frame and sleep on that incline! 4" with the block laying on its side, works PERFECTLY!! He said the problem is really "slient reflux"--gastric acids "back-wash" up the esopogus at night and leak into the lungs somehow. It's called "silent" as I had never had "heartburn" ever.
Good Luck!

I would drink lots of water and maybe get a humidifier. If you are coughing anything up, you may have an infection and should probably consult your doctor.
