like a few weeks, days, years?

It just depends on the STD in question. Some STDs like AIDS or HPV can lay dormant in the body for years (sometimes 10 years or more with AIDS) after one is infected, without showing symptoms. Any virus that you contract will always stay in your body and sometimes these viruses may pop up and then lay dormant for months or years. Other STDs may show up after a few days, some after a few weeks or a few months. It really depends on the STD and the incubation period.

It all depends on the incubation period of the STD in question. From days to months.

It can take any of those--days, weeks, months, or even years. The best thing to do if you or someone you know is worried is to get tested. If you or someone you know has multiple sex partners monthly I suggest you get one as often as you have sex--be that weekly or monthly.
