I can't tell a difference what about you?

There IS a difference, but the fact is that Chinese people eat some Japanese foods, and Japanese people eat some Chinese foods! So that's probably why you find it hard to tell..!

Chinese foods come from a larger number of countries, so there's more variety. (China wasn't ALWAYS that big!)

Japanese food also has a huge variety, but much of that is via China ..!

It's like everywhere now, people eat whatever food they LIKE, regardless what part of the world it originated from.

Japanese foods is much different from Chinese!
Chinese is very heavy on the sauces
Japanese is more raw-food (except for the cooked rice and fried things)
Japanese focuses more on fish
Chinese focuses more on stir-frys
MSG is found more in Chinese food

Can't tell the difference either. I use Sun bird packets of sauce mix. They have fried rice, beef and broccoli and several others. Taste just like cooked in the restaurant.

Two vastly different cuisines... in preparation, cooking, presentation and taste. Even the white rice is different. So are the chopsticks used (japanese ones more pointed). Obviously you have not patronized either cuisine much.
