I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 6 years ago. I'm now 26. Since being a teen my skin has given me issues, but I honestly didn't expect it to go on THIS long. Most people I know haven't had to deal with frequent breakouts past the age of 18. I've been to a dermatologist, who's put me on some medication (not Accutane), but it hasn't helped much. My blood sugar levels are under good control, but I can't help but wonder if my skin troubles are somehow connected to being diabetic. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? If so, have you been able to control it, and if yes, what did you do? I'm getting desperate enough that I'm tempted to go on Accutane, though am nervous about it, seeing as it's so hard on the liver. Anyone's advice is appreciated! Cheers!

Seems you are having androgen excess too, most common cause for which is PCOS.Accutane is good choice, confirm again that its acne and if its so,its better to consult an Endocrinologist about this issue too who simultaneously deals with type 1diabetes

Keeping your sugar under control is a start next cut out all fried and fatty food and only use a soap with a 5.5pH.
