There will be at least 25 people at the party. They want to have something to eat, without sitting down to have a meal. I want them to eat without just having chips and soda. What do I do? HELP!

We are going to make homemade pizzas out on the grill, with the kids helping to build the pizzas! Be sure to have a big variety of toppings, especially if you have vegetarians in the bunch!

Given they're teenagers, there are a lot of good ideas here, but if you don't want your kitchen trashed, (the hot dog idea, good but messy) I'd suggest that you see what type of pre-made party trays that are offered by your local supermarket (the ones with a service deli), and you can order them like a week in advance and pick them up just before the party.......that way you won't have to stress over it.........just pick things that you already know kids that age are eating......the Party Tray idea may cost a little more in the longrun, but you can have a party that's pretty stress free, and all it takes is one trip to the store.........I remember the days when I'd have run back and forth like a chicken with it's head cut off "forgetting things" at the store and making multiple runs.....the party trays can be customized any way you like, say, Buffalo wings, mini croissant ham/turkey and cheese sandwiches, chicken fingers, taquitos, both beef and chicken........or you could also do the Costco approach, as is you've there, you know what a huge selection they have, most just have to be heated or thawed........Good luck, hope this has been of some help......Just remember, DON'T STRESS OVER THIS.......PARTIES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FUN, NOT STRESSFUL.......

I think a fondue party would be great. A regular cheese fondue and a pizza fondue( I got a great recipe just by doing a web search) Set out bread cubes, veggies and some cooked ravioli and let them dip away. You can use crock pots for the fondue. This is also really inexpensive. You could also do a chocolate fondue with fruit if you like. I think the kids would feel very sophisticated as well.

make some finger foods like mini sandwiches, cookies, yeah have the chips and soda, you could get mini bagels and have different flavored cream cheese to spread on them. Also try having other foods there to serve but have them all layed out for everyone to serve themselves. If you don't want just soda to drink, you could make some punch made up. Just take some fruit drink like fruit punch, mix it with some sprite or 7-up then take some different fruit like pineapple rings or marachino cherries to put in it. To help keep it cold, freeze some of the fruit punch in ice cube trays or molds of christmas shapes then add to the punch. Having it so people can serve themselves makes it more casual and then people can choose what to eat and when they want to.

A platter of assorted meats and cheeses accompanied by rolls and condiments. Tortilla chips with chile con queso is delicious or dips. You could serve tater tots.

One time I went to a pizza party. We put the ingredients of choice, and baked the pie in the oven. Then we shared our creation. It was fun and memorable. If you do not want to make the dough, Boboli bread will work for the base.

Don't forget the dessert!

Best wishes.

have several options of appetizers I think is way that you can serve something tasty and not just 'junk food' some suggestions would be :

lil smokies, or make them into pigs in a blanket,
salad with all the fixins on the sides,
meatballs,
cream cheese spread on slices of ham and rolled,
rolls
mini pizza made with bagels jar sauce and package shredded cheese
a veggie plate with various kinds of dip
maybe a 7 layer dip with tostito chips or fritos
mini sandwiches
cheese plate (have swiss, cheddar, colby, all kinds of cheese)
a mix like chex or anything else you want to mix, maybe preztals with dried fruits and chocolate chips and cereals
popcorn
egg rolls or mini taquitos
mini quesadillas
nachos

that is all i can think off the top of my head hope that helps

a fun non alcoholic drink would be to use lemon lime soda with sherbert and crushed pineapple. very tasty

They are teenagers. throw something on the table and say food is on and watch them come running. Seriosly though. nachos w/ rotel, little smokies in barbq sauce. sandwiches, chex mix, pizza rolls, puppy chow (kinda like chex mix but sweet, pb and chocolate and powdered sugar... I have heard it is not known outside of the midwest), these and pizza were always @ our youth group parties as a teen and we managed not to go hungry. If to many adults were worried we weould end up w/ taco fixings or stuff for chili dogs or frito chili pies and such plates and bowels of finger foods that way they can move arround w/ them to whatever is going on.

I would set up a buffet choosing some of the following foods. I know when my daughter had her graduation party, no one wanted a meal. The kids just wanted finger foods and appetizer-type stuff. Just make sure you have lots of paper plates and napkins.

* snack mix
* critter crunch
* carrots (baby) with ranch dressing
* cheese - cheese cubes and especially string cheese
* chow mein noodles
* cinnamon buns
* cookies
* crackers
* crescent rolls - jam, cheese, chocolate in side for special treat
* finger sandwiches (make sandwich with peanut butter or cheese spreads, trim crusts and cut into 4 squares or triangles)
* fortune cookies
* floats - ice-cream with root beer, cola or orange soda (buy straws)
* french fries
* fruit - grapes, strawberries, kabobs, raisins
* fruit leathers/roll-ups
* goldfish crackers
* green beans
* hummus (garbanzo bean dip) with pita bread
* ice-cream - cones, sundaes (syrup, whip cream, cherries, sprinkles, candy pieces) - buy little prepackaged ice-cream cups or ice-cream bars or sandwiches if you want to avoid the mess of scooping out ice-cream
* juice - freeze bright juice in ice cube trays and serve with clear soda or juice. If you're concerned about spills, buy light colored drinks (apple juice or lemon lime soda. Fill cups half full for younger children.
* macaroni & cheese
* nachos
* nuts
* olives
* pancakes
* pasta - spaghetti and other fun shaped pastas (bow ties, bunnies, etc.) - caution some kids don't like tomato sauce, so have butter and cheese as an option
* peanuts
* peas
* pizza - pita, English muffin, if ordering from pizza parlor, order largest size you can use (best value) and ask them to cut it "party style" (small diamonds or squares) to avoid slices that are too big and hard to handle
* popcorn - Jiffy Pop is especially fun or a topping buffet with taco seasoning, Parmesan cheese, Italian herbs, and cinnamon sugar
* popsicles
* potatoes - baked, mashed
* pretzels - home baked
* sandwiches - open face, peanut butter, cream cheese, shaped, rolled
* sherbet - some kids just love this stuff, especially the rainbow kind, make float with clear soda
* tater tots

Pizza is always a hit. Sandwiches are good also,and if you want to go the extra mile make them hot. Hamburgers are also loved by the teens.
Serve a fruit salad as a dessert. If you put it in their face they'll eat it.
Hope this helps.

If you want to have that WOW factor - I would go to Walmart Bakery and order one of those 4-6 foot subs. Then all you have to do is make room on your table, cut it up into manageable pieces, and let them go after it. Provide chips, pickles, dips - maybe some nachos.

Another thing that is really hot right now is one of those chocolate fountains. They sell them at Walmart for $19.00, or you can rent one (if you want a larger one) - then just provide trays of pound cake or angel food cake, apples, strawberries, bananas, pretzels for dipping.
