If your child has diabetes then please be guided by their paediatrician, dietitian and diabetic educator.
Putting a child on a diet not formulated to the child's growing body needs, can be fraught with danger.
Children are being diagnosed with diabetes's at an alarming rate, especially type 2. Which is really sad because the children are fat and not doing enough exercise.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) changed the pyramid in spring 2005 because they wanted to do a better job of telling Americans how to be healthy.
The Food Guide Pyramid is one way for people to understand how to eat healthy. A rainbow of coloured, vertical stripes represents the five food groups plus fats and oils. Here's what the colours stand for:
orange - grains
green - vegetables
red - fruits
yellow - fats and oils
blue - milk and dairy products
purple - meat, beans, fish, and nuts
Check out the links below, the top one is pacifically for diabetic children and the second one is The food guide pyramid, which has a break down of how a good diet works, using the food pyramid.
Good luck and please see your child's paediatrician, dietitian and diabetic educator.

I guess I'm not quite sure of your question.. is the child diabetic? One of the only ways to lower blood sugars besides medication is exercise. Besides that, eating a healthy diet.

You can actually go to www.diabetes.org and they can help you with information on how to work with a diabetic child. I attached the link, you need to find out what works best for your child because the lows can be just as bad as the highs and the atkins diet threw my kidneys and liver into shock, so find out what right for your child and go with that. Some good measures are chromium picolinate and cinnamon at helping to control sugar.

By changing their diet. Avoid any simple sugars and carbs. Replace these with whole grains, fresh fruits, and vegs. Increase proteins with chicken, fish, dried beans, etc.

Cut out white bread, white sugar, and white flour. No candy, only natural sugars, and not too much of them either.
