Good ol' fashion bacon and eggs!! But they have to be done on the BBQ. Dress it up a bit if, need be. Do "toad in a hole". Give them OJ in a champagne glass. Kids are pretty easy to please if they are with the people they love

Crepes-You can stuff them with anything-from mushrooms with chicken and a cream sauce, to fruit and whipped cream, crab and hollandaise, cheese, Roast Beef and Pesto-pretty much anything. You didn't mention how old your children are? The nice thing about this dish is that you can have several different fillings and appease everyone. Also, its engaging and fun!! You can make the crepes that day or a day ahead!!
Here is a basic recipe:
4 eggs
1 cup flour
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons melted butter
Measure all ingredients in to blender jar; blend for 30 seconds. Scrape down sides. Blend for 15 seconds more. Cover and let sit for 1 hour. (This helps the flour absorb more of the liquids.) Makes 12-14 crepes.
Recipe Variations:
For a Sweeter crepe:
Add 2 teaspoons sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
For a Chocolate crepe:
Add 2 tablespoons chocolate sauce to sweet crepe recipe.
Also, have some fun with some sparkling cider and mix it with cranberry or pomagranet. Or take some Club soda and mix it with OJ and Pineapple.

We usually have our holiday dinner pretty early in the day too. So my family has had sausage balls for EVER! They are kind of finger food, so they are convenient what with the present opening, stocking gutting and all. LOL I can't say that they are particularly nutritious, but they are easy to make and easy to eat.
Sausage Balls
2 cups baking mix (Like Pioneer)
1 pound of Breakfast sausage (Jimmy Dean in the chub)
2 cups or 8 ounces of grated sharp cheddar cheese
Let the sausage warm to almost room temp. In a large bown mix all the ingredients together with your hands and form into 2 inch balls. Place on a cookie sheet about an inch apart and bake at 375 for about 12-15 minutes. Or until they get brown on the bottom.
With some juice and hot chocolate made with milk, it's a pretty well balanced meal. (If you don't count the fat or calories. LOL)

This make ahead dish is the ultimate for a special occassion:
MAKE AHEAD FRENCH TOAST
INGREDIENTS
5 eggs, lightly beaten
1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup half-and-half cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 (1 pound) loaf French bread, cut diagonally in 1 inch slices
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup light brown sugar
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 cup chopped pecans
DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream and vanilla. Dip bread slices into egg mixture and place in a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Refrigerate overnight.
The next morning: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a small bowl, combine butter, sugar, maple syrup and pecans. Spoon mixture over bread.
Bake in preheated oven until golden, about 40 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Go to an italian store and buy a Panetone cake. I can't really describe it, but it;s really tasty, and it's not something you can make everyday. So it's special. Make them hot cocoa to go with that, or milk chocolate... Also, fresh fruit, like a fruit salad (no alcohol, though) with whipped cream.
It's not a normal breakfast, because of all the sweets, but it is Christmas morning, and you can have something different...

My family tradition was to have eggs benedict for christmas breakfast...but usually small portions, (half an english muffin each and only one egg) and serve some fresh fruit with it.
Definitely a special occasion breakfast!

I know my kids LOVE pancakes! Just sprinkle with powdered sugar or use a fruit compote on them. Serve sausage or bacon for protein and make hot chocolate as a special treat (don't forget the marshmellows!)!

How about scrambled eggs, a meat and pillsbury cinnamon rolls. This is a quickie breakfast, not too heavy for the kids and not too time consuming for yourself.
