The current generation of livestock would probably be put to death (unless by another bizarre coincidence, some people donated billions of $$ for them to live out their lives). But that would be the last generation of domestic animals, and no more would be raised, except a few for keeping as pets or for dairy production.

Dairy production in India, BTW is tied to farming. Bulls are used for plowing the fields so that no animal is considered a 'waste of time' and killed. Cows that are past their prime are allowed to live on instead of being killed.

Leather, down pillows and blankets, fertilizer and all other sorts of disgusting things! All the nice Vegans and Vegetarian would adopt an animal. The new housepet would become a Cow or Duck, Pig, Goat. Wouldn't it be funny to see people taking their lamb to the 'dog park' or walking their pet cow around the block. Animals are Friends not Food.

They would probably be slaughtered anyway because the industry would expect an increase in meat consumption again but after that I think they would stop breeding them in such astronomical environmentally destructive numbers and the excess would die off

Irrelevant question....like you said bizarre...it probably won't happen. More likely....society will probably evolve over time and slowly less and less people will be consuming meat. In turn...as we evolve less and less animals will be breed for food.

They would probably end up becoming food for zoo animals or something. I can't imagine cows, chickens, pigs, etc. being let loose in the National forrests. :)

They still need to critters to make dog and cat food. Ever wonder why a vegetarian has no problem feeding their cats or dogs meat.

After we tracked down the vegatarians who caused this massive shift, we'd put them in prison and feed them with the livestock, raw!

Why would we do that?
It would make our canines completely useless and make us un-able to fend against aliens by biting them.
