Morningstar is fine but you have to keep them frozen until you use them which is a pain if you just want to use one....and yes, you do have to keep them frozen, not thawed out, I spoke to someone from the company about this. Tofu Pups and Smart Dogs are okay. I think they are more convenient. Yes,they do have an aftertaste. To make them tastier, add some chili (without meat of course). If you are still having a difficult time finding one that you truly like and want to eat, perhaps you should consider just not having "hot dogs" anymore. Also, I recommend anything by this brand, Quorn. I believe they make hot dogs and since EVERYTHING else they make is WONDEFUL those probably are as well. They sell them at organic grocery stores. Unfortunately,it is hard to get all th varieties that they make. You will find the chicken, and turkey, and crumbles. I think a movement needs to be started to encourage more of their product to be sold at stores in the U.S. Oh and Some regular grocery stores carry the chicken. Around here, Publix does. Here is the website for Quorn: http://www.quorn.com/

Linketts...from Loma Linda brand.
These dogs fit into most hot dogs, and can be cooked like any others, or just eaten plain out of the can.
Trust me...I live in Loma Linda, a town where probably 25% of the 10,000 people are vegetarian, and this is one of the best that I've tried.
Good luck!

I would have to say SmartDogs. I normally boil them in water, cut them up, and put them in vegetarian baked beans. They're also really good plain too. However, I'm not sure if their texture is what you're looking for. I would try Morningstar. Almost all of their products are amazing.

I like Smart Dogs by Lighlife. I take some sauerkraut and place a couple of dogs on top of them, cover and put them in the microwave for a few minutes, turning the dogs slightly every minute. The moisture from the sauerkraut helps steam the dogs without having to add water.
For everything else I like Morningstar products first, Boca second and Garden Burger third.

I think Smart Dogs are the best. I don't know how you cook them but I figured out a long time ago they are best steamed. A little water in the pot and place the dog in the steamer-takes 2-4 minutes, tops. When they puff up a bit, they are ready. I have them with the works-ketchup, relish onions, mustard-and if it weren't for the dollop of Veganaise they would be fat free!! Let me know what you think of this.

I really like Yves vegetarian dogs. They have butter in them so you can't eat them if you're a vegan. I like to fry em in oil.

MorningStar Farms! They taste just like the real thing, better actually (without the idea that you're eating an animal). The first time I tried them, I felt guilty because of how real they taste! BEST ONES! (and try their corndogs too!) :) Good luck!!

Here in Canada we have company called Yves Delights, and they make a regular and a Chili flavoured one, I was a chef and find if you part cook them by steaming or microwaving, then sauted.
I like to cook onions and pepper like regular hot dogs, along with saurkraut, you cna dress them up like non veggie weiners or sausages.
