Fibromyalgia is a very real condition negitive comments from ill informed people do not help. Please do some research instead of causing further stress to suffers.

Unfortunately there is no cure to Fibromyalgia, but can be managed with support from family, friends and good doctors.

I attended a pain management clinic, for Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Which helped me understand my pain better.

This clinic had a Physio, Occupational therapist, Psychologist, a Doctor who specialises in pain and a well being nurse.
These five people then assessed each of us, (5 people in a group) and then worked out a program the was suitable to each of us. This program went for 10 weeks.

One of the main things I learnt was to take pain killers every six hours rather than 8. (this is ONLY if your not on heavy duty pain killers)
Also don't be afraid to use pain killers, when you need them you need them.
Gentle stretching exercises rather than cardio exercises, were recommend. Walking and swimming was also recommended when pain levels are moderate (yeah right).
Drink plenty of water, have a good diet. Omega 3, magnesium, potassium help too.
Avoid coffee, alcohol and smoking, (smoking slows down the blood flow to our body, thus causing more pain)
Massages do help, but they cost money and as you both have fibro, this may not be an option.
Warm baths before bed help, (add a little lavender and chamomile oil mixed in with milk or oil), take a pain killer before climbing into the bath.
Pain killers; Di gesic help, Panamax, or Panadol Extra help, (Di gesic needs a script) and as I said every 6 hours.

Hope this helps and take care

I have had contact with several people with fibro myalga.
(is that the correct spelling?)

Most people do not get cured, they just learn to live with it.
It is not a very well understood disease. It is more a label for a bunch of symptoms. Diet and vitamins seem to help a certain amount.

There is no cure! However, there are certain things one can do to feel better. Number one is, find a way to get better quality of sleep. Most people with fibromyalgia have insomnia also. And when you do not fall into a deep sleep, your body will not heal the way it should. You see when you do not get enough sleep, as in the case of most people with fibromyalgia, the aches and pains associated with this get more severe. It would also help to get very low maintenance massages.

Fibromyalgia is a very real condition, and people like steph and Doc8 have no idea about fibromyalgia, make life very difficult for the sufferer.

For the non believers research this very debilitating condition, before you mouth of.

Now I have got that off my chest, there is no cure to
Fibromyalgia but learning how to live this condition, teaching family friends and colleagues what Fibromyalgia is and how it effects you.

Getting plenty of rest and quality sleep is vital, as a good healthy diet, and avoiding alcohol, coffee etc .

Fibromyalgia is not a respiratory disease but it is a very valid condition that i have been fighting for 10 years. and yes, it is very very very painful....my doctor has me on extra strength Vicodin, Morphine, Fentanyl patches, Soma and Oxazepam so i can sleep at night.... and anyone who minimizes this condition doesn't know what they are talking about....just try being in such excruciating pain that you just want to die.......figuratively speaking that is......and i just wish someone would find a cure.....and i know that my doctor wouldn't be prescribing all these heavy duty meds if there wasn't something really wrong with me...............and i am sorry that people have to experience something like this....i would not wish it on any enemy that i have had in my life. so i wish all the fibromyalgia people all the luck in the world.....and i hope this input has helped others with this condition. thankyou and God bless....happy holidays everyone!!!
