Baby, it's cold outside! So tonight I'm going to try my hand at a simple Indian dish: Hot Curried Beef, using the recipe from the label of Patak's curry paste. I'm thinking I should balance it with a simple vegetable or fruit. What would be yummy and traditional? Thanks!

Fix up 10 or 11 "boys" to go with that curry: chopped nuts, chopped hard boiled eggs, crumbled bacon, mango chutney, currents soaked in Madeira, shredded coconut, sliced bananas, mandarin orange slices in lime juice, diced papaya, and anything else you can think of.
They are called "boys" because during the British Raj, each dish was carried and presented by a different house servant, who were politically incorrectly called a "boy."

Basmati rice and mango chutney on the side. You pretty much have a full meal with curried beef. When I eat at the Indian restaurant ,that's what you get. They serve the main dish with rice and maybe poppadums.

A saag would be fantastic (you can add chicken or tofu if you like). Obviously, basmati rice is a must option. Aloo paratha is also good, with plenty of raita's and chutney's from which to choose.

Some traditional veggies you might consider: cauliflower, okra, tomatoes, split peas, spinach, garbanzo beans (chickpeas). Toss in a little onions, ginger and garlic w/ the tomatoes and one other veggie and that would be a nice side for it.

Cabbage and rice are important side dishes, as well as coconut soup, poori or paratha bread, and vegetable or meat samosas.
