Have you seen a doctor for this yet? He or she might be able to give you an idea of how long you have.
Here is something I found on Yahoo about it:
A microalbumin test evaluates urine for the presence of a protein called albumin. Albumin is normally found in the blood and filtered by the kidneys. When the kidneys are working properly, albumin is not present in the urine. However, when the kidneys are damaged, small amounts of albumin leak into the urine. This condition is called microalbuminuria.
Microalbuminuria is most frequently caused by kidney damage from diabetes. However, many other conditions can lead to kidney damage, such as high blood pressure, heart failure, cirrhosis, or systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). If early kidney damage is not treated, larger amounts of albumin and protein may leak into the urine. This condition is called macroalbuminuria or proteinuria. When the kidneys spill protein, it can mean serious kidney damage is present. This can lead to chronic kidney disease. A microalbumin urine test can be done on a sample of urine collected randomly (usually after the first time you urinate in the morning), a sample collected over a 24-hour period, or a sample collected over a specific period of time, such as 4 hours or overnight.
Hope that helps!

This is something that u should discuss with ur dr. The presence of albumin in the urine indicates kidney damage, but further tests may need to be done.

You have signs of albuminuria. But there is nothing to dishearten. Take low amount of proteins in the diet. Be moderate on carbohydrate intake.Include a lot of fruits, vegetables and fibres in your diet Walk for one hour every day. See that your bp is under control. Do breathing exercise by inhaling through nostrils, holding the breath for 30 seconds and exhaling through mouth. Do this slowly. Adopt a positive attitude. You will live your life to the full.

There's 3-4 stages of kidney disease with diabetes. Yours I think is the first stage and so not so serious. You need however to go see a doctor and keep your diabetes under control.

You could live another 30 years or you can have an accident tomorrow. Live life as if it's your last day and enjoy every day you get. Don't worry needlessly.

What a terrible question to ask us to answer, and especially this time of year! You have as long to live as anyone, think positive, take your medication, get on dialysis and get on the "donors" list for the first available kidney transplant. Ask your family to get tested. Merry Christmas, and say your sorry or Santa is going to leave you "coal" in your stocking.
