Are they feeling guilty about eating all those dead animals?

I don't knw why they are hateful and rude to us just because of the food we choose to eat. I personally don't push my views on anyone. I researched the vegen lifestye and I found it was right for me and followed my values in life. I respect everyone for whatever decision that they choose; but if someone asks why I am vegan I will tell them. It is so juvenile to fight about what another person eats.

As a person that eats meat, the only thing I feel bad about is the way certain farmers treat there animals. I think this whole move to 'organic' shows that many more people feel the same way.
I personally don't rate myself above the natural order of things and eating meat is a perfectly natural thing to do. Out body's are equipped with a small and large intestine that is suited to an omnivorous diet.
I find some vegetarians can be a bit naive, like thinking they have there own little section on Yahoo Answers where they can congratulate themselves without any negative deliberation. Other than that, "keep eating those greens".

Actually, after reading your question (and answering it) I went into the V&V section to see if what you said was true or just an overreaction. It turns out that some 'meat eaters' do seem to add negative comment to this section almost exclusively. Almost every answer if fact. What strange people!

The same reason the vegetarian criticize any one that do eat meat. Al thought rude and madding to the recipient of that mind set. In most cases, that person being rude, has had a bad experience trying to accommodate the choice of one or the other. I have a lot of vegetarian guest for meal at my home and I always prepare dishes to accommodate them. Often, one or more vegetarians will give my meat eaters a hard time, and that is also rude. We are human and make tons of mistakes, being rude is one of them. Just smile and tell yourself, they've been a receiver of what they are dishing out.

Because they are childish and stupid. I don't care who eats meat and who doesn't, but having to harass people beause they are peaceful and caring is just plain mean, stupid, and immature. I've drank wines more mature than these people.

Perhaps there are no meat eaters on here over the age of 12? Perhaps it's easier to pick on peaceful people rather than tackle real issues like childhood obesity? Either way, some people just get off at hiding behind a computer screen and stirring up trouble. Makes them feel more like a good American - you know, pick on others and be a bully.

Although I enjoy meat I recognize that everyone has the right to make their own choices.

Oddly, most of the vegans and vegetarians I have come in contact with (and, remember, I said that I have contact with) are such zealots that they become tiresome and boring extolling their chosen regimen. I occasionally go to a vegetarian restaurant for the salads, etc., but find the smell of vegetarian meat substitutes (the tofu burger, for example) to be really unpleasant.

People should learn to tolerate different peoples' tastes.

It's not all of them, just the troublemakers.

You're right though - it's always been my theory that the dead-flesh-eaters are more vociferous about our diet because they feel guilty about their own.

And as for those who continually bombard V&V with their inflammatory questions, based on made-up "science" and "medical journals", well the less said about them the better!

I really can't get my head around it. They may not see a problem with eating meat, but that would surely be a neutral subject for them, not something they feel strongly "pro" about, and want to change people's minds about. Whereas veggies are actually trying to influence something for moral reasons. So all this saying "we all think differently and need to tolerate each others views" doesn't seem to fit the situation here because they don't actually have a "view"- no one is actually in favour of killing animals for moral or intellectual reasons, they just aren't against it. It's NOT the same.

What it boils down to is this- People like to think that everything they do is right. When someone comes along who lives a bit differently, it makes them feel judged. Even if no thought process has gone into their decisions, they will argue with them simply because they see them as opposition.

Also, we are so far removed from the processes that bring us our food, clothes, etc, people don't feel responsible for anything but the fact that they walked into Tesco's and paid for it- some people are genuinely convinced that so long as it's not illegal, and is available through legitimate channels, we have no right to bring morality into it.

I think it just annoys people to have to think about it at all. Often when people find out I'm veggie they jump straight in with some sort of "Oh i would be veggie but I have low iron" or "Oh right (awkward laugh) I love meat too much to be vegetarian, I don't know how you do it" as if I had asked them why they are not.

But I still don't see how that annoyance would lead them to go out of their way to insult us! Seems bizarre. What losers.

EDIT- Donald W, what you say is completely fair enough. But it's really not a matter of "taste" with most vegetarians, it's a moral consideration- none of us would be so wound up if it was just about what we do or do not enjoy eating.

EDIT- Col, "critcise" is the British spelling for "criticize". It's not incorrectly spelt, in fact I think you'll find that it's the original English spelling. As for what you say about vegans, well sorry, but seeing as you live in America it's no surprise that you encounter a load of zealous religious types- there's plenty of those there, vegan or otherwise.

some feel uncomfortable that vegetarians are bring into question their morality, and playing a gamew of im holier than thou [which some vegetarians do]
its the same as atheists being around religious zealots.

Yes..they feel like they have to belittle us because of their own insecurities. It's sort of like the old saying "Misery loves company". Do you know what people say about bullying right? The bully is a bully because he is unhappy with himself. It's the same for the bullies here.

I don't see why this (your question) would bother Mr. Foxhunter though..this is the Vegetarian and Vegan section. He has no business being if he has no real questions.

i suspect so.

Yahoo Answer is a fairly pointless forum.

Meateaters continually going into V&V section to criticise is totally pointless.

I guess its all they can do from thier hospital beds while waiting for cardiac surgery to remove all that dead-cow fat.

many of the answers above miss the point, and havent bothered to check what you mean. Some of the people who post in this section can't possibly be described as any other than wasters. They continually abuse, its nothing to do with debate, its just abuse.

Do you see people who don't like DIY going into that section slag off all the home improvement people ? no

Do you see mindless question from veggies in the "food and drink - other" section slagging off meat eaters? no.

So, you meateaters cannot say we do the same. We don't purposfully go around the other sections of food and drink that are irrelavent to veggies and post mindless abuse about meateaters.

Please check out the behaviour of some meateaters in the veggie section before claiming its about debate, opinion and we're all the same. It makes you look daft when you make these claims..
