I have been diabetic for well over 40 years and found a cycle of difficult times. As stress builds, vast temperature changes like those between season times, holidays and the unexpected eating from them, times of day you eat. All these things effect my control, or can effect my control if I am not careful. As I am sure there may be certain things that effect your control. Is the medication at a peak point when these things happen? Remember your livelihood depends on your attitude towards the disability of you pancreases to help out in the system. Sure go ahead and cheat a little....but you know the problems that causes. Each and every diabetic has their own comfort zone that all things work best for them, I'm certain you've found that, talk these things over with the doctor to be safe and sure. Alternate medicine is just that, not proved or tested safely or long enough to be considered scientifically approved. My best idea is to discuss these things with a support group, or your doctor to find the answer that is safest for your position. Best wishes and good luck.

No one I know have tried alternative medicine. But I've looked into it. I'm not opposed to it if one can stomach it. That could mean eatting the organs that are effected by diabetes of animals in some Chinese medicine. Accupunture and massage are definately helpful and do-able. Herbal medicines in pill form are easy to swallow. But I think that you will have to incorporate more than one method for results. mediation, detoxing the body, yoga or tai chi (exercise), nutiention, relaxzation. It's not an easy fix by no means it takes a lot of personal attention and changes.
Maybe you apart of the rise is due to a weight gain of as little as 8 lbs, being ill or more stressed. And sometimes we just stop responding to medication as we once did and need to change. You must see a doctor of both medicines to monitor you now and through any changes in treatment. Just walking into a health Co-op and choosing by th labels will do yu harm and no good.

Diabetics are not like the rest of the population. When you start to have difficulty controlling you sugar, you need to go to the doctor. He will check you for a urinary tract infection, or other kinds of infecton, and check your labs to make sure your are in check with all of your electrolytes. They may even do a blood culture and examine you for problems or other kinds of infection.
Dont start messing around with alternative medications unless your MD knows about it. Please go to the doctor. He/She should know about any alternative treatments you are trying out. They will help you decide what is best for you.

Diabetes is a chronic disorder. One way it occurs is when the pancreas does not secrete enough of the hormone insulin. Diabetes is commonly categorized into two types. The first type of diabetes is sometimes called insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) or juvenile-onset diabetes. It results from a shortage of insulin. http://www.herbmark.com/Diabetes_a65.html

your doctor can switch your meds but there is no alternative except a really strict diet and most people cant stick to one, and lots of times you are too far gone to deal with it with diet alone.
