There are only 2 of about 30 sexaully transmitted strains of HPV that cause warts. Another couple can cause cervical cancer and the most of the rest have no symptoms at all.

The majority of doctors don't test for any STDs when they do a pap smear. A pap smear typically only tests for abnormalities in the cervical cells which could be or become cancer.

Unfortunately that doesnt mean you dont have genital warts . Your doc would have to perform a hpv test to be sure . Good Luck

It depends on what they tested you for. If they tested specifically for STD's, and they said everything was normal, then you are probably ok. If they just did a regular pap, you should go back in and get an STD screening. It is best to know asap, so you can get preventitive meds if you need them.

Pap smear looks for abnormal cells which indicate cancer. He's saying you don't have those abnormalities. Warts are visible and he would have seen those as well.
