Have you actually seen a pulmonologist? You probably need to have a pulmonary function test done, possibly with a methacholine challenge.

Hi! I was always coughing and doctors said it was allergies. I ended up in the hospital last year for 12 days. They vacummed out my lungs! lots of pflemn sp? and the pulmonary specialist said to put a cinder block under the head of my bed to prevent GERD, reflux of gastric acids to "back-wash" back up my esophogus and that leak into my lungs!! I experimented and found that 4" incline worked perfectly for me! No coughes; no repiratory probs and excellent health this whole year and a half!! THANK GOODNESS! I do take antacid tablets when I overeat at night--but generally try to eat sparingly at night.
