I'm from New Orleans, and I say that spicy food is the best (and only) food!

It depends how healthy you are and how much you plan to consume. When I was a little kid, we would eat hot spicy plantain and crab soups that were so hot that they would make both our eyes and noses run like a water faucet, child.

I would say not to use too much of it. Like everything else, if you use it in moderation, you should not have a problem. You don't need to have your nose and eyes running. That is ridiculous.

If you have an ulcer or acid reflux, I don't think it's a good idea to eat spicy food. You would have to discuss it with your doctor.

It's not bad for you unless you eat too much of really spicy foods, and if you do eat reeaaaly really spicy foods all the time then it will cause you to get ulsars.

The only thing that it will cause is major heartburn as you progress along. Even then, just keep a bottle of tums around and try not to eat spicy foods a few hours before bed. That's just advice from my own personal experience. Of course, just like anything you're unsure of, ask your doctor about it. Good luck sweetie!

No it isn't. I do want to comment about the suggestion that people in tropical /hot areas should not eat spicy food. Ummm.. I hate to tell you but I think there are some Indonesians, Malays, Thais, Indians, etc. who would be surprised to learn that they shouldn't be eating spicy food.

Like any foods, moderation is the key. It will all make you fat if you eat too much.

No. Spicy food is sometimes greasy food, and greasy food can irritate some people's stomach, gall bladder, gut, and so on. So pick your spicy food carefully and prepare it in a healthy way!

It depends on what spicy food you're eating.

Spicy stuff like ginger is very good for your body.
But stuff like habanero peppers and whatnot aren't necessarily the best thing you could eat.

Spicy food is healthy.
Soy sauce has a prophylactic effect against breast- and prostate cancer.
Chili has a substance capsaicin for the treatment of inflammation of the joints.
Garlic is well know against flu/colds.
So, c'mon let's spice up our lives!
