Why would anyone smoke something that doesn't get you high?

What's the point of buying expensive clothes? Whats the point at eating at Mcdonalds? What's the point of waiting in line the day after Thanksgiving to save a couple bucks on a DVD player at WalMart? I can go on and on. The fact is that if someone wants so smoke, for whatever reason, then they should be able to. I have smoked before and I did it because I could. The cigarettes were there and I did it. In fact, I smoked a few times, not getting addicted or being close to it. You cannot get addicted to cigarettes after one or two times, like the ignorant twelve year old above before me said.

Anyways, to answer the question, it is something to pass the time. Thats why I did it. I was bored and with a group of friends, some who were smoking. I had never done it and wanted to try it. I never (let me emphasize again) once felt like I was "hooked." And do I think smoking is a nasty habit? Yes I do.

The fact of the matter is this: you do not know what goes through the minds of the people around you. Everyone's mind works differently and just because yours thinks everyone who smokes is an idiot (and I know I'm right about your opinion on this), doesn't mean that theirs does the same. For example, I have a huge obsession with airplanes and I don't know why. You may think this is dumb, but think spending your time sewing quilts is cool (remember, this is an example). I would have to disagree.

Do not judge people just because they smoke. They are people who have the same rights as you and I. I know a couple smokers who are, without a doubt, smarter than you, or anyone you know. Let these people smoke in peace without some uneducated brat telling them to stop.

The point of smoking is to help relieve stress. Everyone has their own way of relieving stress. Smoking helps some people breath in and out to help them relax. Of course you can do it without the cigarette too but maybe smokers don't know how to control their own breathing. Guess it's time to learn some breathing exercises.

People don't smoke because they like it, it is addictive, and they can't quit.

Smokers don't like to smell like an ash tray, or have their teeth yellow or die of lung cancer. They can't quit because its an addiction.

The anwser to your question what is the point of smoking a cigarette, is because to a smoker it is a need, a craving, an addiction, they smoke because it makes them feel better, it relaxes them, it makes them feel good. Its a release to their stress, just as a non smoker uses certain things to relieve stress or anxitey, such as walking, reading, running, eating, etc.

People normally start smoking from peer pressure and/or because one or both of their parents smoke...they think it makes them look cool and then they are addicted and cannot stop.

If you dip, you get cancer of the jaw, loose your teeth, eating becomes painful, so all you eat is baby food.

You also have worse breath than a smoker
