It is possible for someone to be a herpes carrier and not show outward obvious signs. The most common is type 1 or 2 which can both infect the mouth or genitals. The one sure way to determine if you are a carrier is to get a blood test called a Western Blot (or Block). It will tell you if you have herpes in your system. Also it's important to know that Herpes, HPV (causes genital warts and cervical cancer) and chicken pox/shingles are COUSINS. You should tell your friend to get a blood test as well; it's the responsible thing to do. In the US, it's estimated 80 million people are infected with herpes and over half don't know it.

You need to go get tested immediately and yes if you test positive you most likely did give them to your friend and will have to tell him. Get yourself checked out right away though. Even with no signs of herpes you can have it.

Yes you can spread it. I will take awhile for symptoms to show up....Did he tell you what simplex he had? However there is not a 100% chance you spread it however, you need to tell the friend .

I have posted a link that may help yo to know what to look for with signs and symptoms. Hope I helped.

Yes. Even without an outbreak it is possible to spread it. Was your breakup nasty? If so he might just be saying that yo try to scare you. If he knew he had it for 10 years, why would he have not told you before?

It is possible that you weren´t infected so get checked and after receiving your results, then tell your friend. If you test positive but you didn´t have any outbreaks while having sex with your friend, it is very possible that you didn´t give it to him.
