if you get chest pains (angina). You might have a depression of the ST segment in the ECG in some of the leads depending on where is the source of the decreased circulation in your heart. Some people like to call it a DIP. I am just guessing it as I do not know of any other dips in ECGs. If you think you do get chest pains then you will need to see a cardiologist and he will subject you to a Tread mill test (ECG taken while you walk / run on Tread mill) as well as an ECHO (ultrasound of your heart). This will determine the eventual treatment for you. Meanwhile you should try doing regular exercise, stop smoking if you do, keep your blood pressure ad cholestrol levels in control and try not to get stressed. Best of luck !

ECG Echo Cardio Gram....Dip in the results? You'd have to be more specific. A change in the results can come from a previous comparative ECG. Maybe your results were diffrent previously? Trust me cardiologists stay ontop of this stuff. If it were something to be really concerned about you'd be having a stress test, which is a good determination of your hearts function. My X is 35, he has 9 coronary stents, and degenerative heart disease. I know the ins and outs of ECG's Staying home and worrying isn't good for your heart. For peace of mind call whoever is taking care of your heart issues and ask them to explain the "DIP" to you in detail, but in terms that you can absorb. Good Luck and try to relax!

I was born with a complex heart condition so have had ecg's all my life (am 34 now). Never had a dip in results though. Best to relax, not get yourself wound up about it. Am sure it will be ok, and if not, its best they know and can figure out a way to help you. Good luck

At your age it is probably the 24/7 stress of bringing kids up and working. Try and get some relax time for yourself each day, stop smoking if you do. Do you have a partner that can help with children more on a night. Hope everything works out okay

I saw this question previously and although I have taught ECG interpretation and have written a book on that subject I have absolutely no idea what a 'dip' is. Call your physician's office and ask them to send you a copy of the ECG interpretation and then send it to me johnerussomd@jhu.edu
