My heart does this weird skipping beat thingy every once in awhile.... I notice it more if I've drank coffee. Anyway, it feels pretty weird and I've even seen a cardiologist who couldn't find anything wrong. Is it dangerous if my heart does this several times in one day??? Is it weakening my heart or anything?

It will do that with too much caffeine. Mine does that after I do cardio, too.

They can be both serious or normal, so it is best to know what you are dealing with.
You could have one premature ventricular contraction once every 4hours and that is more of an annoyance then a problem. You could also have a PVC's every other beat or 5 in a row, which is something to be very concerned about.

Everyone has skipped heart beats, but some people have them more often which makes them more noticable.

It is best to either have a, stress test, 24hour Holter monitor or month long King of heart monitor to see what your rhythm is. An EKG and Echo are least diagnostic because it normally isn't a structural thing and catching it on a 6sec EKG is nearly impossible unless you are having them every 3rd or 4th beat or more.

I'll say right now that I'm not a doctor and have no medical background at all, but I suggest seeing another cardiologist to get a second opinion. They may have a different way of doing things and might be able to find the problem. Usually, the skipping of one beat shouldn't be a problem, but it can possibly be a sign of problems down the road. I just suggest getting it checked out a few more times just to be safe.

If you feel palpitations, it is probably premature contractions. They are benign (not harmful). They will not weaken you heart or cause you any problems. Another possibility would be an arrhythmia, such as paroxysmal atrial tachycardia, which is a very fast heartbeat (over 150 beats per minute) that comes and goes. You should be able to feel your pulse and detect this if it occurs.

You are probably having premature beats from the caffeine. Obvious solution - less caffeine.

If you experience chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, or any other worrying symptom, then you need to seek immediate medical attention.

Otherwise, switch to decaf.

The skipping is a result of the Caffeine in the coffee.

Chances are that your Heart is OK.....stay off caffeine for a few days and see if the Heart skipping goes away or reduces.

You have a Good Heart;)

Did the dr. do an echo or give you a stress test? I also skip beats and the root of the problem ( a serious one) was found only during a stress test.

find an electrophysiologist. cardiologists hate them, but they specialize in the electrical system of the heart, and they know things that cardiologists don't know. DO IT!!!!!!!!

Probably not, but since you notice it more after you drink coffee, you might want to drink less. Or to switch to Decaf.

It may just be palpitations, which can be caused by caffeine or stress. They are not serious.
